Cemetery

Graveyard, Burial Ground, Memorial Park

A cemetery is defined by Wikipedia as “A place where the remains of the deceased are buried or otherwise interred."

We feel a cemetery is a place of love, honor, respect, and in most cases a place of history. The term graveyard is often used interchangeably with cemetery, but a graveyard primarily refers to a burial ground within a churchyard.

“Show me the manner in which a Nation cares for its dead and I will measure with mathematical exactness, the tender mercy of its people, their respect for the law of the land, and their loyalty to high ideals.”

As the author, William Gladstone wrote a cemetery signifies the quality and value of a Nation. We at Family Owned Service Company, Brewer & Sons Funeral, Cremation, and Cemetery Services believe in what a cemetery represents. This is the reason that after 50 years in the Funeral Service, we felt it was our duty, and obligation to save those cemeteries left to the element of disrepair and maintenance. Those places of honor, respect, and history that have been forgotten. These families deserve better.

Our Vision

These cemeteries have many years of memories yet forgotten and fallen into disrepair, we were able to resurrect them to a new life of honor and respect.

We provide:

  • Burial spaces (Below Ground)
  • Private / Public Mausoleum (Above Ground)
  • Cremation Gardens (Below Ground)
  • Cremation Niches (Above Ground)
  • Benches (For relatives and/or urns)

Although we own and operate these cemeteries we still provide services in other public and private cemeteries

Honorably discharged veterans should always consider the National Cemeteries for free burial.

FAQs

What is opening and closing?

This is digging a grave or removing a mausoleum face, along with setting up tents, chairs, grass, and safety equipment

Do I need an opening and closing?

You do need this service at all cemeteries

How much does opening and closing cost?

It varies from cemetery to cemetery, and the cost may vary depending on the difficulty.
Ground Burial of Casket: $1,900 - $2,600
Ground Burial of Urn: $900 - $1,200

Do I need a vault?

In most cemeteries, a vault is required. Made of concrete, it provides support around the grave for a casket. With the use of heavy equipment, the weight of the Earth could easily cause a collapse of the gravesite. If you use a mausoleum no vault is needed, but a sealed casket is required.

Do I need a marker?

Yes, you will want to provide a marker (monument) for your grave or mausoleum. Memorial parks generally have flat (even with the ground), but we like the historic value of the upright markers. They remind us of why we have so much respect for this sacred ground.
